4 Stars!

Sin and Riley have been in a secret sexual relationship for six years. During that time they've both had other sexual relationships. Riley with other woman and Sin with other men. Sin is out and proud while Riley still holds on to his straight card. The only man Riley has had sex with is Sin, but that doesn't mean he's never ever had some man on man experiences in the past. Their secret relationship comes crashing down when a picture of them in a compromising position is released to the

Argh. This one is hard to rate. I really liked Sin and Riley. I really loved that unexpectedly Riley wasn't a closeted, paranoid, insensitive jerk. I loved how he just stepped up and owned his life even when it wasn't the image that people expected. I liked that Sin was able to let go and be what he thought Riley wanted just to be with Riley about as much as I hated that Sin did that.

Where I have problems is the level of evil and child molestation and abuse just heaped on and heaped on and heap

As only Mercy could write them.

This was more than I expected from the blurb. At first, it’s a friends with benefits just starting to figure out what the other guy means to them story. Riley is supposedly “straight” but he’s acting weird when he and Carter “Sin” Sinclair get together for their usual post-game, blowing-off-steam sex. Then the feces hit the fan with a photo and they’re at odds with each other. On top of that, Sin’s estranged father dies and suddenly the whole tone of the story chan

Each author has their style of storytelling and to me this Mercy's. I've read pretty much all her books and I feel like sometimes it's written just for me. I don't like easy or simple reads, I like them dark, I like sex in my books which she does very well (and not just a few lines, I mean the kind that takes 4 pages to describe in detail what's happening and if you add in dirty talk even better) and I love how she doesn't shy away from hard subjects or afraid to spell it out. This sounds stupid ...more

This book has a good story base. So really I don’t understand why it needed to be so over the top. Biggest thing that bugs me is the way the surrounding plots just barreled into the main storyline. It was inelegantly done and bordered on a sort of trauma theater that I found off putting. There was no need for it as well as the soap opera level plot involving Step-Mommy Dearest. It felt like two completely different books trying disastrously to take up the same space.

One second, can we all just back up a minute? Wow... what the hell did I just read? That synopsis could have never prepared me for the REAL DEAL. Nothing would have. The synopsis speaks about a gay scandal which is going to rip their lifes apart, but man... never would I have guessed that.. When I told a friend about my binge-reading and the dramatic turn of events in the book, she suggested it sounds like Anne Rice. Maybe. Maybe not. All I know is, I should have been surprised; I have read one ...more

Courting Sin is a great, hot summer romance. Set on the beaches in Florida, featuring sexy, young, guys getting sweaty, this story is great by the pool, or lying in bed wishing you were. The sex scenes are hot, like Mercy Celeste at her best-hot. They will leave you breathless.
Sin is a professional volleyball player. He’s sweet, a nice guy, a good friend, close to his mother, and in love with his best friend and teammate. Unfortunately, Riley is very much straight and living his dream. He gets

I don’t have the first idea how to rate this book.

On the one hand - hawt. Probably the hottest book I’ve read in a while. Marcy Celeste does hate sex (or at least ambivalent people who really don’t like each other sex) so incredibly well. And when the lust turns to love, she does sweet better than most, too.

On the other hand, the drama llama salacious hideousness here was over the top. It was almost farcical how evil people were and it just kept coming. In some places, there were continuity is

Mercy Celeste has some wicked genes running through her because she can set us up with two men who simply cannot stop having incredible sex while weaving outlandish and sometimes seriously tragic tales in their lives.

My recommendation is that you read the blurb of this extraordinary love story which is eventually a tale of sexual abuse (including child abuse) which takes you so completely by surprise that you can't imagine that Celeste can get her MCs Carter and Riley out of a crisis so h

This book was just too much drama. It had sexual abuse, murder, attempted murder and etc. It never rest on anything. It was too short to have all that drama. And yet they found room to admit feelings and get it on. Their was no courting going on in this book. How do you mingle with people that have betrayed you to your core? This book left so many WHYs for me. The level of shit they kept quiet about is staggering. Not a great book to pick up in the middle of the night. This might be top level of ...more

Potential squandered for the most part.

I'm not terribly fond of this writing style. First-person writing can work but more often than not it doesn't. Structure-wise, it was uneven at best. It needs significant editing.

There's a lot of sex. That part was written better than the rest. There are also passages that are syruppy sweet where the two main characters speak so sweetly, I couldn't even roll my eyes. I could only laugh.

The beginning, mistakes notwithstanding, held promise but the book n

Huge surprise

First a caveat....the cover in no way represents characters or storyline. Cover would seem to be about a summer romp with 2 teenagers but this is a grown up story from start to finish. This was a ultra romantic /family drama about 2 competitive volleyball players, which is only time to cover. Man, did I love Carter/Sin and Riley....2 flawed and rough around the edges guys that were seriously hiding behind fears. Worst case of lack of communication ever! It really fit who each was th

Carter “Sin” Sinclair and Riley Thompson are the reining beach volleyball champions. Sin is gay, Riley isn't, at least that's what he tells himself every time Sin and him have sex. Riley insists that it's just about taking the edge off after a win, or a loss, or really any time. When they are caught on film the fallout seems likely to derail their future trip to the Olympics.

The sex scandal soon takes second place to Sin’s real life secrets. His father kills himself and Sin’s past returns with a

This would have been a good book if it were only about two friends with benefits who played competitive beach volleyball and fell in love. If it were only a friends to lover m/m sports contemporary romance. It could have been fun and sexy and a joy to read. Instead there was this melodrama evil family secrets twisted backstory that really sucked. Not to mention there were loads of grammar errors and past/present tense mixed up. And the author messed up the ending reminding us that we were readin ...more

So freaking good!!

What a treat this book is!!
From beginning to end everyone except Sin and Riley knows that they have feelings for each other. They're hotheaded, snarky and their jealousy makes them do dumb shit. But they're also completely in love with each other, exceptionally fun to read about and so hot in bed ( or the shower) that it sizzles through the pages. And just when you think their life couldn't get any crazier, it does!

And as a PS, always check where your phone is at;)

Good read

I always one click Mercy, she is a great story teller but now I am worried about her if she thinks CNN or MSNBC is valid media, really? This one has a little of everything, sports sexy hot guys who love other hot guys and murder. Also parents who should never been allowed to procreate. The last part seemed too rushed. Would have liked to know more about the legalities of the situation.

I loved the romance between the two characters and the fact that they were partners first. But OMG, talk about DRAMA, so this book had a vicious killer, a fake pregnancy, two rapists, and more.
I think sometimes less is more. I would have given this book 3.5 or maybe 4 stars if there were just the romance and a little drama surrounding maybe Sin family or something else.
I loved a book written by this author and I am still searching something else to love or even enjoy.

Mercy Celeste writes characters that you just want to hug and wish them the best. It isn't any different for Courting Sin. I love these guys. They don't realize what they really have and when they do-- it takes them exploring to find out what they are for each other.

The think I love about Mercy's style is she breaks the characters, but she always fixes them. This is a story you want to read.

Hot and dreamy and beyond scary!

This is an amazing story about Carter “Sin” and Riley, their professional relationship and their private relationship! This is also a really frightening story about really horrible things happening to children. The love is incredible and the strength and courage is awesome!

Mercy Celeste is an amazing storyteller and you will never regret reading this story!

Mercy has done it again! I think I found another all-time favorite. Sin and Riley go though a bumpy ride but it is so worth it! The sex is awesomely steamy, the romance long and achingly perfect, and an epically f$cked up family. All the ingredients that make Mercy Celeste one of my top 3 favorite authors.

Really enjoyed this new one from Mercy Celeste!! It was centered around the world of volleyball which I know nothing about...and the two main characters are partners who may or may not be into each other :) See what I did there? No spoilers from me!! It was a really fun read...and I loved the two main characters...whew, the bedroom scenes were HOT!! Looking forward to Mercy's next book!

Not a fan of this one

I think this is the first Mercy book I rate this way, I truly don’t know what happened, book felt disjointed and fantastical, like you literally were watching a movie on fast forward, it was just disappointing for me, specially because I loveeee Mercy. But oh well, they can’t always all be great.

I'm flipping back and forth between 3 and 4 stars but settled on 4 because of the parts of the book I loved, which is Riley, Sin, and volleyball. This book takes a very unexpected HARD left turn into child molestation, abuse, rape and just plain old crazytown. Mercy Celeste is a great storyteller but I got a little more than I bargained for when I picked up this book.

Way deeper than I expected

This book was nothing like I thought it would be. It was a little all over the place but it didn't hold anything back as it talked about real life issues. This book definitely triggers to sexual abuse.

This book was amazing! It left me wrecked, in a good way. The characters were believable and likable, well-developed. The story moved fast. I was invested from the beginning.

*** Trigger warning: I feel like I should mention there was abuse described, but not in great detail.
