When Fangamer and Attract Mode asked me to make something for their VERSUS art show at PAX Prime, I decided to make a print about one of gaming’s oldest rivalries. Presenting the rivalry through the lens of a King of Hearts playing card, I created a print that could be displayed two ways, depending on the buyer’s preference. Each side features elements specific to their king. Mario’s half features the geometric hills of the Mushroom Kingdom and his Fire Flower, while Bowser’s company includes one of his many castles and a toothy Piranha Plant.
