Ovidio Perez Does anyone else feel like Chaol and Nesryn breakup was like too casual? Basically, Chaol cheated on her, but since they both fell in love with different people that makes it okay? They didn't even talk about it that's how much it gets to me. I was kind of expecting something like "sorry Nesryn I fell in love with someone else and for her to be like me too." Also, I was pissed off we weren't invited to Chaol and Yrene wedding like WTF?! How dare the author only giving us a glimpse of the wedding. I was this close to throwing myself overboard. Ops I fell off the ship by mistake anyhow I just love Nesryn being paired off to Sartaq they make such a cute couple. Who knew Lysandra the shifter has an Uncle searching for her who can also shift too. I also honestly wasn't expecting for Duva to be the one possessed by a valg. Nor was I expecting for her sister Hasar to join in on this war against the valg. After finishing this my anxiety for Aelin is still top priority. I'm so worried about Aelin being in the clutches of that evil valg queen Maeve. I hope they rescue Aelin soon and I need the next book like right now. I can't stand this, knowing Aelin will suffer greatly in the hands of Maeve... >.<"

Nikita I actually felt Chaol and Nesryn's breakup was mutual because they both fell in love with someone else. As for Chaol and Yrene's wedding, if you recall we never got invited to Aelin and Rowan's wedding either and only got a glimpse of that one too. I loved that Lysandra has a family member who wants to know her and maybe be apart of her life compared to her mother who threw her out and father who abandoned her. Didn't see Duva coming either. My money was on Arghun. I knew that after Yrene saved Duva, I knew that Hasar would join the war as a way of saying thank you for saving her sister. I can't wait for Hasar and Aedion to meet. What an encounter that would be. I too fear for Aelin now that Maeve was revealed to be a valg queen. What does she want from Aelin?! I have to know! I hope Chaol reveals what Maeve is to Aedion and Dorian and they find a way to inform Rowan before he reaches Maeve and somehow all her subjects revolt against her to save Aelin.

Next September is too far away. I'll die not knowing but then the wait will give me time to re-read the series before the finale book comes out.

Nikita why you had to remind me we weren't invited to Aelin and Rowan's wedding either? I hate now knowing we missed out on two weddings. Yes, I know the breakup between Chaol and Nesryn was mutual, but I was kind of hoping they would at least talk about it. Also, don't forget that Aedion and Lysandra are going through a rough patch. Especially with the way Aedion doesn't like how secretive Lysandra has been with him. I would hate to see Hasar snag Aedion all to herself. I honestly ship Aedion more with Lysandra so I guess will just have to wait and see. Who knows what might happen when Aedion meets Hasar. All I know is Maeve needs to go down in flame... 🔥

oh I forgot about the rough patch between Aedion and Lysandra and the secrets she kept from him. Now I'm sad because they are great together. Now I don't want Hasar to meet Aedion. She is going to want to have Aedion to herself if she goes both ways. See this is why I need to have a re-read marathon.

O Nikita, it is fine we just need to write down are thoughts as spoiler alerts to help us remember what went down during the previous books. I see my old comments and remember everything I thought and felt from that moment onward. It really helps a lot kind of like having a cheat sheet... x3

Nikita true

What about Feyre? I wish had a marathon with ACOTAR but didn't think about it until later.

Are Hasar and Reina married or just involved?

Silent tears in the background, because we not only missed one wedding, but two of them... 😭

Sarah j Maas has never actually had a real wedding that isn’t in a ship or eloping something like that. I just want a real wedding!

Maybe when the war is over we'll see Aedion and Lysandra marry

As much as I'd love to see Aedion and Lysandra marry-- it seems too forced.
Please hear me out.
Please don't hate; it's just my opinion.
I'm not trying to attack yours.
OK?

So, here's my two cents...
Basically, they went from being attracted to each other to Aedion telling her that he'd marry her (mind you, these last few books spanned for over a mere few months).

Not only did this put me off because of how unrealistic it was, but it pissed me off (and made me slightly uncomfortable) that he was telling her this whilst she wasn't even in her human form.
How was she supposed to respond if she can't speak?
What if she wanted to say no?
And it's not even addressed later in the book. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't get me wrong, the idea of them getting married would be so cute.
But I don't want them to get married straight away.
I'd rather them (A) stay best friends, or (B) get married later, later, later, after they've both healed over and have sorted out their issues.
They can't love each other if they haven't learnt to love themselves.
SJM shouldn't rush their relationship. It's tacky and makes it seem like she's trying to rush the story.

Susan It was partially a way to get her back to her human brain being in control. He was saying something outlandish to get a human reaction.

He's also been holding back with her a lot for fear of her past and not wanting to trigger anything and/or make her see him as interested in her for her body like so many had been. There's a lot of subtlety between them.

Though they're definitely on the rocks at the end of EoS.

Yeah I understand that he was trying to help her take control but SJM could've (for example) made Aedion talk about a memory that they share when they had a good time together in a scene that took place outside of the books or something, in order to calm Lysandra down enough in order to shift back.

I agree that it was purposefully outlandish for him to say "I want to marry you", but it also just felt wrong honestly. If Aelin (for example) were in Aedion's shoes she'd probably just sit with Lysandra and make jokes about her being a giant fish, and take a trip down memory lane prattling about their friendship and how much Lysandra meant to her.

(And yea I know what you're thinking: "different characters respond to situations in different ways," but don't worry, I do know that Aedion would've responded differently to someone like Aelin, but I just wanted to use her as an example of a more healthier response).

I just thought it was a weird choice for SJM, especially since (like you mentioned) Aedion doesn't want to trigger Lysandra. But then, wouldn't it be a bad thing to mention marriage (considering what it's usually correlated with)?

As much as I love and ship Aedion and Lysandra as a couple, this just felt a little unhealthy and uncomfortable for me.

Thoughts?
