Having come aboard last year’s 8-Bit Maps halfway through the project, I was excited to be involved with Google Treasure Maps from the start. Providing art and creative direction, I helped shape the map’s look and feel by creating initial concepts, hand-drawing the map’s terrain, creating the first landmarks (pictured) to set a precedent, and re-skinning Google Maps’ UI. If you’d like to know more, I wrote a fairly in-depth process post about this project on my blog.
