Here’s a sampling of the work I created while working with LayerVault. Here’s a little context:
The top most images are for Project Templates, a system that automatically applies icons to folders based on their name. The icons are linear in fashion so that users can still see through to the individual file previews beneath them. These icons also needed application to default Apple OS folders.
Designing the LayerVault for Enterprise landing page required making the many benefits of the service clear, while maintaining a clear hierarchy and call to action.
While I created many illustrations and icons for LayerVault, I most enjoyed the suite of illustrations that accompanied the announcement of Psd.rb, a Ruby library for reading and writing PSDs.
Finally, a pass at redesigning front page Designer News, organizing the necessary information with a minimal about of ornamentation, letting the content speak for itself. Specific content would be accompanied with iconography that referenced the origins of Graphic User Interfaces.
